Memorializing Your Loved One With Personalized Urns and Vessels

Long Island Funeral Trade offers various types of urns and vessels, providing families with a personalized and meaningful tribute to their loved ones.

Traditional Urns

These are classically styled urns, typically made from metal, marble, or wood. Traditional urns are available in different shapes and sizes and may feature simplistic or elegant designs.

Keepsake Urns

These are smaller vessels, often used to hold a portion of the cremated remains. This allows loved ones to share or keep a small amount of ashes as a keepsake.

Cremation Jewelry

A form of a keepsake vessel, cremation jewelry allows individuals to wear a small amount of ashes discreetly in items like pendants, rings, or bracelets.

Scattering Urns

Designed for scattering ashes as per your loved one’s wishes, scattering urns are often biodegradable and come in various designs.

Military or Theme Urns

Some urns are designed to reflect the individual’s interests or background, such as military-themed urns or urns featuring sports, hobbies, or religious symbols.

Custom Urns

Although we offer an extensive list of options, Long Island Funeral Trade can have a custom-designed urn created at your request.

Helpful Information for New York State Cremations

For those located in New York, cremations are arranged and supervised by our licensed funeral director. As required by New York State, we oversee the removal of remains from the place of death, ensuring a compassionate and respectful transfer that reflects our commitment to your family’s needs. Additionally, we handle all necessary document filing, permits, and authorizations.

New York has some of the strictest standards for the operation of a crematory and is one of the few states that require crematory operators to be certified by an organization approved by the Division of Cemeteries:

  • They must maintain privacy and be maintained in a clean, orderly and sanitary manner with adequate ventilation.
  • Only authorized persons are allowed to be present in the cremation area while cremation is taking place or in the temporary storage facility while remains are in storage.
  • A proper cremation permit and authorization form must be completed and submitted before the crematory can accept remains for cremation.
  • Each crematory must have a written plan that details how the identification of the remains are assured throughout the process from receipt of the remains to delivery of the cremated remains.
  • Once remains are received by a crematory, the container in which they are delivered may not be opened by anyone without prior written authorization.
